Enjoy pumpkin fun in western New York

With a name like Pumpkinville, you know exactly what this place specializes in. Located in western New York’s southerntier, about 90 minutes south of Buffalo, Pumpkinville is New YorkState’s oldest continually working pumpkin farm.

Naturally you are going to find row upon row of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes for sale at Pumpkinville. However, it is not merely a farm market; it is a family-friendly fall entertainment destination and more.

One of the first things you’ll notice, besides the pumpkins, is the wonderful aroma of baked goods. One can stand by the window of Di’s Pie and Bake Shop and watch pumpkin donuts being made. Other made-from-scratch goodies they make include muffins, pies, bread, and cookies.

Next door at the Snack Shack, try some pumpkin ice cream, apple slices with caramel sauce, or some of their freshly squeezed apple cider, made in their circa 1870’s cider mill. If it’s a warm fall day, try an apple slushie. Other foods available include hot dogs, beef on weck sandwiches, Italian sausage, and chili.

Children’s activities include a six acre corn maze to get lost in, pony rides, and a corn cannon, where you can fire corn cobs at a hay bale target. Perfect photo opportunities abound as there are numerous Halloween and fall themed wooden cut outs throughout the grounds.

One can also purchase a number of items, including flowers, apples, squash, home-made fudge, fall décor items, cookbooks, jam, and craft items to bring home to remember your visit.

Pumpkinville, 4844 Sugartown Road, Great Valley, NY 716-699-2205,  Open daily 9am-7pm the third Saturday of September to October 31.
